Where have all the flowers gone? lamented some guy in the 60s (I don’t know anything about pre-1985 music.) These observations are as of 10-23:
The Autism Army Mom (piloted by the marvelous Lynn Hudoba) is AWOL since May 2012.
Big Daddy Autism, one of the greatest blogs in history and my muse and ultimate role model when I started this blog, has mysteriously completely vanished. The self-deprecating genius F Lewis Stark, his engaging twitter, his fabulous autistic teenager, and his top-notch site have completely vanished as of sometime in the summer of 13. Clues derived from other twits suggest that his health is ailing. Get better, Big D.
Flappiness Is, the blog that helped me learn to celebrate my son’s differences instead of trying to coax him out of them (as if you could teach a songbird not to sing!), has only 2 posts in the last 4 months or so. Though I will say that the gentle Leigh Merryday is still active on her facebook page, and even responded to me through email.
The in-your-face Adventures In Extreme Parenthood has stayed fairly regular but with no activity for the last 6 weeks. Sunday Stilwell and her frazzled on-the-edge motherhood perspective is sorely missed.
That said, the unapologetic, in-yo-FACE slam-poster known only as the mysterious Jillsmo of Yeah, Good Times has stayed regular. I’ve linked her “All Kids Do That” collaborative compilation masterpiece multiple times on my facebook since I discovered her over a year ago. (I hope you enjoy creative cuss words cuz she ain’t shy about them!) PLEASE PLEASE read “All Kids Do That”, so you can, maybe sometimes, avoid saying these four dreaded words to an autism parent at the worst possible time.
Definitely check out the thinking dad over at Autism Daddy for his sometimes light-hearted, sometimes heart-breaking, always active commentary as his severely autistic son looms ominously toward his teens.
Maybe something goes on on twitter that I’m missing, since I’m seldom twitting out my 140 characters of momentous wisdom or reading anyone else’s unless I’m wondering when the next Starcraft 2 tournament is coming. I’ll have to keep a closer eye.
